How We Help You Get There

The course is split into seven modules, breaking down each of the core teaching concepts into manageable pieces.

We cap off the course with a written exam to make sure you've understood and can apply the material. CONTINUING EDUCATION NOTE: CECs/CEUs available for fitness professionals who complete the course and written exam!  Contact us for more info.

It takes more than just multiple choice success to be a Rolla™ Certified Instructor, though! It takes skill and practice. To make sure you've nailed it, and are ready to represent us out in the world, you'll submit a video of you skating, and coaching certain sections as your practical exam.

With a passing grade on the written and practical video exam, you'll earn the privilege of using the "Rolla™ Certified Instructor" designation! Put it on your Insta, your business cards, Sharpie it on your cat -- shout it out!!

On the other hand, if you simply want to learn without receiving the "Rolla™ Certified Instructor" designation, you can opt out of of the video submissions.

You can walk away and apply all our knowledge bombs to whatever hobbies, teaching opportunities, leadership roles, and anything else you like!

**NOTE: only Certified Instructors are eligible to apply to become a Rolla™ Skate Club Partner and start a Club in your own community!

SUBSIDIES AVAILABLE FOR BLACK AND INDIGENOUS SKATERS - GET IN TOUCH

An interest in leading and teaching others. No prior coaching experience is needed, just the desire to share your personality and your love of rollerskating.

  • You want...

The skills to confidently lead others in their rollerskating journey - and *maybe* even to become a Rolla Skate Club Partner and start your own skate school in your community!

Lulu and Booty have created such an amazing community in Rolla Skate Club. They put together a great curriculum to help skaters anywhere teach the basics based of their years of experience in roller skating. They have created a positive learning environment and each day was so fun! I highly recommend this training whether you are a trainer or skater in whatever type of roller skating you do.

I consider myself an intermediate skater, I have played Roller Derby and Now I skate for the love of it. I always have other skaters asked me to teach them how to skate but my confidence on teaching was not very strong. Taking this Certified Instructor Training course had teach me so much and give me that confidence that I needed to teach and coach , I didn't even need to have any previous coaching experience which made it easy for me to go for it! Coaches Lulu and Booty have such an extensive experience on teaching (and skating) that made it so easy and much less overwhelming for me, completely taking me out of my confort zone. The course had easy to follow hand outs (pdf and printables) Videos of the Rolla skate classes they offer, examples of what, who and how to teach different individuals at all the different levels! The most important part of it its made by woman for woman to empower and to create strong leaders with long term life skills. I was a little scared to take this course but I learn a lot not only in the course but also about myself and this is something worth doing weather its is for a business pursue or for only teaching your best pals. It's definitely a win win situation! So go for it!

I wasn’t sure if I was ready to take this step yet but I am SO glad I decided to just go for it. From the moment we got started, meeting all these other passionate, creative, dedicated skaters participating in the course from all over the world was an absolute joy. I felt sure I’d come to the right place. Skaters that live to train, to build others up and spread happiness have a unique love language and it’s music to my ears. Through 2 days of marathon zooming, I was engaged, educated and excited. I came away with new insight, and a few challenges to focus on for myself. Gracious, professional, super fun facilitators Lulu and Booty put the abundant course content together in a way that was well organized and easy to follow in the handbook and they kept us well on track during live meeting. This team have clearly been using their quads of steel to do the tremendous amount of legwork necessary to progress to this stage in making big Rolla dreams a reality and I’m so very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.

FAQ:

We answer your burning questions

  • When-Where-How does this happen?

This is a learn-at-your-own-pace online course, featuring handouts, videos and worksheets, accessed right here on our Online Learning Zone.

  • How Much Time Should I Budget for this Course?

The course contains about 3 hours of video content. You should plan on some extra time to read the added materials, and for practicing and applying what you've learned, before taking the written exam and completing the two Video exam components! Expect to budget about 7 hours to complete everything successfully.

  • How do the exams work?

The written exam is multiple choice, completed online, once you've completed all the course materials. The video practical exam & skills demonstration must be submitted within 99 days of purchase. You do not need special video or editing skills for this! But you will need some helpers.

Need special accommodation for the exams? Ask us!

  • I've only been rollerskating for X months - Should I take this course?

Everyone learns and progresses differently, with different backgrounds in sport (or not!). We can't say how long you should be skating before you'll feel ready to teach others.

If you feel very confident skating indoors and outdoors, forward and back, transitioning, and stopping, you'll have what it takes.

Have you played roller derby? You'll be great! Do you have a figure skating past? You'll nail it.

  • Can I teach Rolla Skate Club classes after I graduate?

You will have all the basics you need to teach classes and lessons wherever you go after this course, as long as you maintain your License! Apply for our Level 2 course if you wish to progress your skills even further. The trademarked Rolla ™ Skate Club brand will soon be available to be licensed through our Partner program, currently being developed!
